Borneo is an island not a country

Did you know Borneo is an island not a country?

Borneo is the third largest island in the world. It is shared between three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. The malaysian part of Borneo is called East Malaysia. It consists of Malaysia’s two largest states, Sabah and Sarawak.

The island of Borneo is actually located on the equator. So, it has amazing natural diversity. Tropical rainforest covers most of the land. Moreover, there are many mountain ranges and peaks. The highest is Mount Kinabalu, the tallest peak in Malaysia. In addition, there is a vast network of rivers. Some of these rivers are not navigable. So that’s why Borneo has interior parts that remain unexplored.
