Lang Tengah Turtle Watch is an incredible turtle conservation organisation, where you get to be involved in exciting and effective conservation projects that have helped the recovery of species across the east coast of Malaysia for the last 10 years. The work is fun, the people are lovely, the food is great and it allows you to experience true island life.

 Once in a lifetime!!

Mollie, 33, United Kingdom, Oct 2, 2019
WOW the island is breath taking some of the most beautiful untouched beaches in the world with hardly any tourists. Camp life is very rustic but is all part of the charm and should never change !!
Wow WOW WOW!!
We were so lucky to witness lots of mothers coming up on multiple beaches to lay eggs. Our job was then to make sure the eggs were in a safe place so hatchlings have the best chance of survival and away from tourists etc. The hatchlings…. we were so lucky to see two mass emerges of 122 and 72 hatchlings going in to the sea to start their journey in life!! It’s absolutely breath taking to see the little guys running into the sea!!

Nighttime Turtle Treks: Become a Shell-ebrity on Patrol!

Ever dreamed of being a secret agent for sea turtles? Well, grab your flashlight and get ready for the coolest night shift ever – Turtle Patrol! Our green turtle friends love laying their eggs on Lang Tengah, but they need nighttime bodyguards. That’s where you come in!

As soon as the sun dips, we hit the beach for an epic adventure. We’re on a mission to stop sneaky egg poachers! By patrolling the beach all night, we keep these precious babies safe. It’s like being a superhero for turtles, and that’s pretty darn awesome. So instead of a boring bedtime routine, you will have nights of adventure and even wonder for amazing sea turtles!

Coral Crews: Become a Super-Coraler and Help Reefs Revive!

Sure, we love our turtles here at Lang Tengah, but guess what else needs our help? The amazing coral reefs! In 2018, we took a deep dive (pun intended!) and started working underwater to heal these vital underwater cities.

Imagine colorful coral gardens teeming with fish – that’s what healthy reefs look like! But sometimes, storms or other things can damage them. Here’s where you, the Super-Coraler, come in!

We’ll show you how to find and rescue broken coral pieces. Then, we’ll nurture them back to health in our special underwater garden (like a coral hospital!). Once they’re strong and healthy again, we’ll transplant them back to the main reef, creating a super-powered comeback! It’s a chance to make a splash (in a good way!) and help rebuild a magical underwater world.

Scientists haven’t learned everything about Lang Tengah’s amazing underwater world yet. That’s where you come in! We need your sharp eyes and detective skills to help us discover all the incredible creatures that call the reef home.

By exploring the reef and recording what we find, we’ll be cracking the code on this underwater paradise. Become a real-life explorer, uncover then hidden underwater life, and help us protect this amazing ecosystem. So get ready for an epic underwater adventure with Coral CSI!

Island Escape: Your Days are Just as Epic as Your Nights!

At Lang Tengah, adventure isn’t just for nighttime! When you’re not being a shell-ebrity on turtle patrol or a Super-Coraler underwater, your days are packed with epic experiences too.

Imagine diving into crystal-clear waters and exploring the wonders of the open ocean. We’ll show you the ropes of safe free-diving, so you can witness the underwater world like never before.

Feeling peckish? Channel your inner baker and learn to craft delicious bread in our traditional brick oven. Fresh bread, island breezes, and good company – sounds like a recipe for perfection!

And for the adventurous souls, Lang Tengah is your oyster (well, maybe not literally, but you might see some!). Lace up your hiking boots and conquer the entire island! Explore hidden coves, discover breathtaking viewpoints, and soak up the incredible scenery.

At Lang Tengah, every day is a new adventure. It’s a chance to disconnect from the ordinary and connect with nature in an extraordinary way. So, are you ready for an unforgettable island escape?

PULIHARA: Saving Sea Turtles and Keeping Our Oceans Awesome!

PULIHARA , aka Marine Conservation and Research Organisation Malaysia, a registered NGO, is our awesome new name for a group that’s been around since 2013! We care deeply about sea turtles and their amazing underwater homes. Our goal is to make sure these incredible creatures and the reefs they live around are safe and healthy for years to come.

Before PULIHARA, we were called Lang Tengah Turtle Watch (LTTW). Back then, we started by stopping people from taking sea turtle eggs to sell. We also showed people how cool turtles are and how important it is to protect them. We even cleaned up beaches, planted coral and learned all sorts of neat things about the ocean!

Here’s what LTTW accomplished before becoming PULIHARA:

      • Saved over 264,000 turtle eggs from being eaten!
      • Helped over 200,000 baby turtles hatch and swim to the sea!
      • Planted hundreds of corals to rebuild amazing underwater reefs!
      • Picked up almost 20,000 kilograms of trash from beaches and reefs (that’s a LOT of garbage!)
      • Taught tons of people, both near and far, about how amazing our oceans are!

Now, as PULIHARA, we’re keeping that awesome work going! We’re still protecting turtles, cleaning beaches, and planting coral. We’re also learning even more about the ocean and how to keep it healthy.

If you love sea turtles, coral reefs, and all things ocean, then PULIHARA is for you!

Project Information

What is the mission and vision of the project?
