BORNEO SEPILOK & KINABATANGAN
Borneo Sepilok Kinabatangan
Bornean orangutan by Thomas Fuhrmann

The essential Borneo nature experience

This is where it all began! In Sepilok, when the world-famous orangutan rehabilitation centre was founded in 1964. Its original purpose still stands today: to rehabilitate and rewild rescued orangutans and to serve as an educational tool for locals and tourists alike. Over the decades, Borneo’s reputation as a top nature destination has grown. Today, there is much greater awareness about wildlife conservation, and nature tourism provides employment and income to thousands of local communities.
