I have totally fallen in love with Borneo and the people

I had such an amazing time at Matang Wildlife centre.

The two weeks were such a great experience. I loved working( in 36° heat and 85% humidity🥵) with the animals. It was hard work but so worth it. Knowing I’ve made a hammocks for the baby bear that arrived, monkeys and other bears. Swings for gibbons and climbing ladders for macaques and cockertoo’s makes me feel I’ve achieved something. We also helped repair a wall in the bear enclosure and cleaned out the ponds.
I met some fantastic people who I feel will be friends for life. I travelled with them at the weekend off to Bako National Park and saw the proboscis monkeys and then travelled on to Java, climbing volcanos and on to Bali with a couple of the girls.
Dom was absolutely fantastic too. He couldn’t do enough for us and made the experience so fun with his great sense of humour.
He included in his tribe’s celebrations too and I have to say I have never experienced such generous, welcoming people. I have totally fallen in love with Borneo and the people because of my time at Matang.
