Telling Stories from the Wild

A powerful image can tell a story in an instant. A film can take you somewhere you have never been and introduce you to the people working to protect it. They can share stories that many may never otherwise hear about, spark curiosity and help people see and understand the world around them in a new way.

For us at Malaysian Wildlife, wildlife photography and videography are an important part of conservation communication. We believe that authentic images and videos can help to share the beauty of wildlife and nature, highlight conservation challenges and bring people closer to the work happening in the field every day.

We look beyond the perfect shot to capture the wider story: the behaviour of an animal, the character of a place and the people working to protect it.

Authentic. Ethical. Real.

Every image and film we use is authentically captured in the field and follows our ethical guidelines for animal welfare and respect for nature. We make sure to document wildlife without disturbing animals or interfering with their natural behaviour. Moreover, we never use AI-generated imagery. What you see is real wildlife, real places and real conservation work.

Behind the camera

For almost a decade, Jordan Curzon has helped us bring our conservation stories to life. Working with us since 2017, Jordan has documented projects from gibbon rehabilitation in the rainforest to marine conservation on the Perhentian Islands.

With over 10 years of experience, Jordan specialises in outdoor and adventure projects, and he has worked with NGOs, conservation organisations and a wide range of other clients. His knowledge and passion for conservation and nature allow him to understand the stories he is documenting and capture the people, places, and wildlife behind them.

Jordan’s ability to combine captivating nature footage with personal stories from conservationists and volunteers has become an important part of how we share our work with the world.

Sharing knowledge and experience

Jordan’s contribution to our communications goes beyond producing photographs and films. He also mentors interns in our Wildlife Communications Internship, sharing practical knowledge of photography, videography, editing and visual storytelling.

For anyone interested in wildlife photography, videography or conservation communication, working alongside Jordan is a chance to learn how photography and video are used in real conservation projects. Interns can gain practical experience in filming, editing and visual storytelling while seeing how stories are developed from the field to the final piece.

We believe that sharing knowledge and experience is an important part of helping the next generation of conservation communicators develop their skills and find their own ways of telling stories for nature.
